iPhone meh
I went by the Apple Store in the mall and got my hands on an iphone. I have a mixed impressions of the iphone. The display definitely looks beautiful. Flicking through music and pinch zooming works great. Those were pretty much the highlights.
The main feature I had to try out was typing. Using one finger was the most accurate but just wasn’t as fast. Using two thumbs for typing seem more comfortable but more prone to mistakes. It kinda a bummer that horizontal keyboards was only accessible with safari. I was texting faster on the iphone than I ever could on a regular phone.
I probably had a bad demo unit, because it seem to crash a lot using ipod, safari, and youtube. Atleast it crashed “gracefully” to the home menu.
With the few minutes I had with the iphone, the $600 price tag is still the deal killer. With a two year contract, I would expect some sort of discount. It is a great device, though I think I can wait for a lower price or version 2.0.
